Wide-eyed shadows
\ntainted with bloodlust,
\nwhispered and watched us
\nsail through the void;
\nwhimsical puppets in spotlights
\nflying from strings above.<\/p>\n
Ringmasters and clowns
\nwatched from the ground
\namidst pissed bulls on parade
\nas our ropes cried
\nfurious from financial strain
\nfor that million dollar payday.<\/p>\n
Onlookers watched us cast fate
\nswinging in the breeze —
\nDouglas Fairbanks stunts
\non a dreamcatcher’s trapeze —
\nabove a smiling pavement,
\nlaughing without a safety net.<\/p>\n
Life on the highwire,
\na torn price-tag for riches,
\nmakes easy deceiving
\nfor blind, concrete believing
\nthere’s nothing to lose in flight
\namidst corporate vampires.<\/p>\n
Somewhere in mid-air,
\nwatching my ass ‘tween flips and flair,
\nhardened beyond rational fear
\nI wondered how I got here —
\na page out of a comic book
\nwithout a place to land.<\/p>\n
Faith, Hope, and Love
\nkept me goin’
\nas the Circus continued to spin —
\nstriving to make it home,
\nonly to be there by dawn
\nwhen the Big-Top opened again.<\/p>\n
